Peter Coufal Strokes 3 Home Runs Tuesday, April 11th , 2023 Peter Coufal brutalized the South Carolina Gamecocks pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 17-3 Arizona victory at Hi Corbett Field. The Arizona Wildcats first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much Peter Coufal today," Gamecocks manager Chris Nyberg said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Peter Coufal grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Chris Phipps in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Chris Phipps in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Nick Coe in the 6th, walked in the 8th and singled in the 8th. Currently Coufal is batting .238 with 9 home runs and 26 RBIs. |
