5-Hit Blitz by Virginia Tech's Westling
Saturday, May 1st , 2021
It was almost a perfect day for Brett Westling.
The Virginia Tech first baseman displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Hokies lost to the Indiana Hoosiers, 9-7. Westling told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle."
Virginia Tech manager Stephen Sanchez told the beat writers otherwise.
"There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well."
Brett Westling hit a two-run home run off Steve Jackson in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far this year, Westling is batting .269 with 4 home runs, 18 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
