Gamecocks Pete Cook Down and Out for Year
Monday, April 26th , 2021
The doctors have spoken and Pete Cook of the South Carolina Gamecocks didn't like what he heard. The 20-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Cook sustained his season-ending injury during the LSU Tigers game yesterday at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the South Carolina medical staff reported Cook had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8-9 months.
For the season, Cook has compiled a 5-2 record with a 4.50 ERA.
