Simmons Laces 3 HR Against Georgia Tech Wednesday, March 19th , 2025 California Golden Bears shortstop Jon Simmons sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Simmons told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from Simmons pushed the Golden Bears past the Yellow Jackets, 8-2. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Simmons told reporters after the game. Jon Simmons singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Brooks Crosby in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Hector Martinez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jason Hasbrook in the 8th. In his season totals, Simmons has 3 home runs, .216 BA, .256 OBP, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. He has played in 10 games. |
