Parkinson Booms 3 out of the Park
Saturday, March 23rd , 2024
Louisville Cardinals first baseman Steve Parkinson almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 4 times and drove in 4 runs and had 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Cardinals to victory. The Michigan Wolverines escaped with the win, 15-12, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Parkinson.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game.
Steve Parkinson hit a two-run home run off Noah Damm in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Bobby Dwyer in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Bobby Dwyer in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th.
"When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said Louisville manager Casey Lounsbury. "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Conference 1. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good ABA College hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it."
Batting .388 to date, Parkinson has 7 home runs and 17 RBIs.
