Baggett Hits for Cycle Against Northwestern Friday, March 22nd , 2024 It was a special day for Tim Baggett at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park. Not only did Baggett's Illinois Fighting Illini beat the Northwestern Wildcats, 17-6, but the left fielder hit for the cycle along the way. The 21-year-old Baggett racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the record books. For the game, he went 4-for-5 with 1 run batted in and 3 runs scored. "He hit everything we threw," said Wildcats manager Tommy Nevins. "There was just no getting him out today." Speaking to the press after the game, Baggett said his goal for the day had been to look for "first pitch fastballs." "I got some good looks today," he said. Tim Baggett doubled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Melvin Cardoso in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 7th. To date, Baggett has collected 11 hits for a .268 average. He has posted 3 home runs, scored 7 runs and driven in 5 runs. |
