Alvarez Swats 3 Homers Sunday, May 1st , 2022 Michigan State right fielder Alex Alvarez blasted three homers at Drayton McLane Baseball Stadium at John H. Kobs Field in the 15-8 Spartans victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers. For the game, Alex Alvarez scored 3 times and knocked in 4 runs. When he hit his last home run, his teammates, hearing the crack of the bat, leaped off the bench and rushed on the field to greet the jubilant Alvarez when he reached home plate. "It was just one game, but it sure was a lot of fun -- 3-for-5, three roundtrippers and a win," a gleeful Alvarez told BNN reporters in a postgame interview. "What a day." Alex Alvarez hit a two-run home run off Junior Millner in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Mike Bennett in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off J.D. Blair in the 5th and struck out in the 6th. At present, Alvarez is batting .337 with 59 hits and 11 home runs. He has knocked in 30 runs and scored 25 times. |
