Horned Frogs Brown Named SL2's Best Pitcher Sunday, May 1st , 2022 Joey Brown left little doubt in the minds of Conference 2 officials that he should be named April's Pitcher of the Month for his outstanding performance. "I wasn't always confident at the start of a game," said Brown. "Sometimes it's hard to get into the flow -- the calls aren't going your way or you're trying to spot your pitches too much. You just have to relax and use what you've been taught all your life -- get back to basics -- good mechanics, control, location, keep the ball down." The 21-year-old tossed 30.1 innings of quality baseball -- going 5-1 with a 2.37 ERA and 37 strikeouts. On the year, Brown has worked 55 innings with 58 strikeouts en route to a 6-1 record and 4.09 ERA. |
