Kellen Warren looks poised to break into a starting rotation Sunday, March 10th , 2024 This offseason, Kellen Warren focused on improving his stamina to potentially make the jump from reliever to starter. Kellen Warren worked with the team’s strength coaches to build endurance, incorporating longer training sessions and conditioning drills aimed at increasing his ability to pitch deeper into games. In addition to physical conditioning, he refined his mechanics to maintain his velocity and effectiveness for extended innings. He also adjusted his bullpen sessions to simulate the demands of a starting role, throwing more pitches and focusing on pacing himself throughout. While he started off slow, by the end of the training he was able to sustain a higher intent behind his pitches for much longer. The decision to shift to a starting role will ultimately be up to the coaching staff, but Kellen Warren’s increased stamina and durability have put him firmly in the conversation. And while his role for the season is still to be determined, Kellen Warren is positioning himself well for the future and offers the Penn State Nittany Lions far more rotational depth. |
