Thursday, April 21st , 2022
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Virginia Tech's 15-7 win over Penn State, shortstop Danny Velasquez was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Velasquez said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
Danny Velasquez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Travis Gregg in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Kyle Kahl in the 9th.
This season, Velasquez is batting .424 with 61 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 35 times and has 29 RBI.
