Edward Ness armed with a deadly new pitch Monday, March 10th , 2025 This offseason, Edward Ness has been hard at work on a new pitch that could redefine his effectiveness on the mound: the slider. After seeking out new ways to diversify his offerings, Edward Ness worked with the team’s pitching coaches and data scientists to develop this new pitch from the ground up. Starting from his motion and natural release point, the slider was identified as a good pitch to try out. He then went through the basics of the grip, intent, and release. This was perhaps the longest part of the training, as Edward Ness really got a feel for the slider. Finally, he met up with the team's data scientists, who made use of advanced biomechanical tracking and video analysis in order to help him refine the spin and movement of the pitch. "I wanted to add something different to my mix," Edward Ness said. "The slider has a real chance to change the outcome of at-bats, and it’s been a lot of fun working on it." Edward Ness believes the addition of the slider will make him even more unpredictable and dangerous on the mound. Fans will be eager to see this new pitch in action the mound in the coming season. |
