Goodwin on Fire: 5-for-5 for Indiana
Sunday, April 5th , 2020
Indiana second baseman Chris Goodwin went down swinging at Bart Kaufman Field today, knocking out 5 hits even as his Hoosiers fell, 13-4.
"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Goodwin said after his 5-for-5 performance against the Ohio State Buckeyes. "No offense meant to Ohio State, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well."
After the game, his manager elaborated on the second baseman's improvements, saying Goodwin spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.
"That's what I'm trying to do," Goodwin agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
Chris Goodwin singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Caleb Jordan in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
To date, Goodwin has collected 32 hits for a .320 average. He has posted 5 home runs, scored 23 runs and driven in 19 runs.
