Arizona State Loses 2B Hurley, Suspended by League
Monday, April 8th , 2019
There was a hostile encounter between Ben Hurley and the men in blue in yesterday's Arizona State-Texas game. The Sun Devils second baseman was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager.
"I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Hurley stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho."
The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Hurley for 3 games.
So far this year Hurley has no home runs and a .264 batting average.
