3-HR Game for Brewer
Friday, March 26th , 2021
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.
It happened at L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park, as Andy Brewer of the Oklahoma Sooners unloaded three times against the LSU Tigers but was still bumped off, 18-13, by the Tigers.
"We were lucky to win today," said LSU skipper Bob Ashby. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."
For the game, the Oklahoma left fielder had 3 hits in 6 at-bats, scored 4 times, and drove in 7.
Brewer spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.
"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."
Andy Brewer hit a two-run home run off Mike Amos in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Mike Amos in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Hannes Sjögren in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
Brewer is batting .371 this year with 7 home runs, 13 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has 23 hits in 62 at-bats.
