Conference 2 Names Hearn Best Player
Thursday, June 13th , 2024
At the age of 20, Giovanni Hearn of the Alabama Crimson Tide could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2024 was good enough to win the shortstop the Conference 2 Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .319 batting average this year, as well as a .417 on-base percentage. He played 48 games and racked up 59 hits, 9 doubles, no triples, 16 home runs, 38 RBIs and 42 runs scored.
He received 22 first place votes out of a possible 56. Paul Morgan of the Kentucky Wildcats finished second in voting with 14 first place votes, while Bill Gonzalez of the Vanderbilt Commodores finished third with 16 first place votes.
