Welch Tops Conference 1 Pitchers Thursday, June 11th , 2026 Chris Welch of the Michigan State Spartans fired on all cylinders in 2026 and dominated Conference 1 batters. For his superb season he has been selected the Pitcher of the Year Award winner. During the year Welch compiled a 6-0 record, a 0.48 ERA and 51 strikeouts while working 56.2 innings. He received 53 first place votes out of a possible 56. Drew Hanson of the Louisville Cardinals finished second in voting, while Mike Kopff of the Indiana Hoosiers finished third.
