Sweet 16 Goes the Distance, Alabama Prevails Saturday, May 11th , 2024 The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers hooked up in a classic Sweet 16 that went right down to the wire. In the end, it's Alabama heading off to the Elite 8, after a 9-5 win at Sewell-Thomas Stadium tonight earned the 2-1 series win. Outside Sewell-Thomas Stadium, whether they were supporters of Alabama or Auburn, many fans talked about how it was a series they would never forget. Giovanni Hearn played the hero for the Crimson Tide in the series, as his MVP performance included a .417 batting average, with a .500 on-base percentage. He also had 2 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Alabama Crimson Tide will play against the Oklahoma Sooners in the next round. Oklahoma won their series against the Kentucky Wildcats 2 games to 1. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
