Tigers Move on to Elite 8 Saturday, May 11th , 2024 The Missouri Tigers and Texas Longhorns didn't hold back anything in the Sweet 16, with each team pulling out all the stops in an effort to advance to the Elite 8. Missouri won the final game by a score of 8-7 at Taylor Stadium and that concluded the series, 2-1. "Relief is the biggest thing," Missouri third baseman Jon Jackson said when asked how he felt. "It's a grind both mentally and physically to have a long series like this, but our guys stuck with it and Texas deserves credit for the hard fight." Jackson paced the Missouri offence and earned MVP honors. For the series, he hit .357 with a .357 on-base percentage, 2 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Missouri Tigers will play against the Kansas State Wildcats in the next round. Kansas State won their series against the Iowa State Cyclones 2 games to 0. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
