Sooners Advance to Elite 8 Saturday, May 11th , 2024 ABA College fans were certainly not disappointed with this Conference 2 Sweet 16. The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Oklahoma Sooners prevailing over the Kentucky Wildcats to advance to the Elite 8. Oklahoma won the final game by a score of 3-1 at L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park and that sealed the series 2-1. "Things were tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now -- the hard work is over, for now," said center fielder Jeff Knisley, who earned MVP honors. For the series, Knisley hit .500 with a .538 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Oklahoma Sooners don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Auburn Tigers - Alabama Crimson Tide series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
