Kansas State Takes Sweet 16 Friday, May 10th , 2024 The Kansas State Wildcats proved to be too much to handle for the Iowa State Cyclones in the Sweet 16, and a sweep was the end result. Kansas State punched its ticket to the Elite 8 on the strength of a 6-2 win in the deciding game, which wrapped up the series 2-0. Kansas State first baseman Steve Kettle, named series MVP, was instrumental in the sweep, as he mashed Iowa State pitching to the tune of a .667 average, with a .625 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Kansas State Wildcats don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Texas Longhorns - Missouri Tigers series. Texas leads the series 1 game to 0. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
