Lara Powers 3 HR Against Kansas State Tuesday, April 29th , 2025 In a powerful performance that left the fans at Hoglund Ballpark buzzing, Kansas Jayhawks first baseman Octavio Lara blasted a trio of home runs en route to a win, 7-2, over the Kansas State Wildcats. "Everything was clicking," Lara told the press. "My timing was good and I got pitches I could handle and I didn't miss them." Lara shined brilliantly in the win, with 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "It's not just one guy, it's everybody," Jayhawks manager Steve Kirchen said. "Octavio played great but it takes more than one guy to win a game." Octavio Lara was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Manuel Mendez in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Manuel Mendez in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Billy Zipay in the 6th and walked in the 8th. Lara has a .339 average and a .413 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 59 hits, 14 home runs and driven in 42 runs. |
