Fighting Irish Prevail, as Sweet 16 Goes to the Wire Tuesday, May 9th , 2023 When the entire season comes down to one game, Aaron Carr said you find out what a team is really about. As it turns out, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are made of fight and tenacity, as the team got by the Nebraska Cornhuskers 4-1 tonight at Frank Eck Stadium in order to win the Sweet 16 and book a place in the next round. "It wasn't hard to get excited for this game," said Carr, whose strong offensive output earned him MVP honors. "Our guys answered the call and proved a lot about what our team is all about." Carr hit .545 with a .615 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will play against the Illinois Fighting Illini in the next round. Illinois won their series against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 2 games to 1. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
