Routh Hitless, Streak Ends at 27
Sunday, April 30th , 2023
Corey Routh saw his 27-game hitting streak wither and die during the Baylor Bears win over Texas Tech at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. The 21-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 1 at-bat by the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but his teammates produced enough offense to win the game, 6-2.
"Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Routh told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 27 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good."
This year, Routh is hitting .318, produced 23 RBIs and 8 home runs, scored 29 times and gotten on base at a .431 rate.
