Indiana Halts Zepeda's Hitting Steak
Sunday, April 13th , 2025
For 21 straight games, Jamie Zepeda tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy.
Well, the 20-year-old Iowa Hawkeyes left fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers held him hitless in 3 at-bats at Bart Kaufman Field and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 21.
There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Hawkeyes took the win by the score of 7-1.
"I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now."
So far this year in 29 games, Zepeda is hitting .339 with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
