Michigan State Sweeps into the Elite 8 Sunday, May 9th , 2021 The Michigan State Spartans outclassed the Virginia Cavaliers in all facets of the game throughout the SL1 Sweet 16. The end result was a Michigan State series sweep to advance to the Elite 8, capped off by a 8-3 win in the final game. "We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said second baseman Justin Morgan, who hit .625 in the series. Morgan's standout effort garnered him MVP honors. He also put up a .625 on-base percentage and had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Michigan State Spartans don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Louisville Cardinals - Clemson Tigers series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
