Nebraska Sweeps into the Elite 8 Saturday, May 11th , 2019 It's a sweet sweep for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and they have won the Sweet 16. The USC Trojans were not able to keep pace with the Cornhuskers and dropped the series in short order, losing 5-2 in the deciding game. "This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said USC manager Rich Dagnese. It's now on to the Elite 8 for Nebraska after their 2-0 series win. Leading the way for the winners was left fielder Omari Baker, who was named MVP. For the series, Baker hit .500 with a .625 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Nebraska Cornhuskers will play against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the next round. Wake Forest won their series against the Virginia Cavaliers 2 games to 0. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
