League Issues Cortright 4-Game Suspension
Sunday, April 28th , 2024
The suspension of center fielder Jeff Cortright did not sit well with the Orange Lutheran High School Lancers. Both Cortright and his manager were livid at what both say is an unjustified 4-game suspension issued today by league officials. Cortright was suspended for "inappropriate conduct" during a game against the Etowah High School Eagles yesterday at Orange Lutheran High School Stadium.

Cortright was ejected from the game for arguing a strike call. "It's not right," he said, adding, "I didn't do anything to deserve this. Eject me, but don't suspend me."

His manager also vented his displeasure. "Arguments go on all the time, face-to-face, and there's not a suspension. To be suspended is ridiculous. That's bull."

Cortright did more than just argue the call, he threw his bat at the feet of the umpire and walked off the field. That is the main reason the league suspended him.

So far this season, Cortright is hitting .265 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 9 hits in 34 at-bats and a .324 OBP.
