Rodriguez Rockets 3 HR Against Doral Academy Sunday, April 28th , 2024 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses. It happened at Rockwall-Heath High School Baseball Field, as Jose Rodriguez of the Rockwall-Heath High School Hawks unloaded three times against the Doral Academy Firebirds but was still bumped off, 17-15, by the Firebirds. "We were lucky to win today," said Doral Academy skipper Ryan Stratton. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." For the game, the Rockwall-Heath High School first baseman had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 6. Rodriguez spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well. "I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." Jose Rodriguez hit a solo-shot off Chris Rotman in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Bruce Van Note in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Joe Powell in the 9th. To date Rodriguez has chalked up a .330 average with 8 home runs, driven in 24 runs and scored 18 times. |
