Orange Lutheran High School Halts Sullivan's Hitting Steak
Friday, April 26th , 2024
Etowah High School catcher Brent Sullivan came into today's game against the Orange Lutheran High School Lancers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Lancers did their jobs well, beating the Etowah High School Eagles, 9-3, and holding Sullivan hitless to snap his 26-game hitting streak. The 16-year-old catcher had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-1, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Brent did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Eagles manager Josh Orwick. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 26 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This year, Sullivan is hitting .393 with 9 home runs and 18 RBIs in 29 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .443 with 9 walks and 19 runs scored.
