Sinton High School Moves on to Elite Eight Monday, May 14th , 2018 In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Sinton High School Pirates have edged the Cypress High School Centurions. The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Sweet 16, with a 4-3 win in the clincher being the difference for Sinton High School and giving them the ticket to the Elite Eight with a 2-1 series triumph. "We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Steve Gottlieb, who was named series MVP. For the series, Gottlieb hit .400 with a .455 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 1 runs. The Sinton High School Pirates will play against the Berkeley Prep High School Buccaneers in the next round. Berkeley Prep High School won their series against the Southlake Carroll High School Dragons 2 games to 1. The Elite Eight schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes. |
