Lions Win Round 2 Tuesday, May 24th , 2022 The JSerra Catholic High School Lions clubhouse was filled with glee and celebration tonight, while the Taravella High School Trojans room was filled with despair and sadness after the Round 2 concluded. "Someone's got to win and someone's got to lose, we're just glad we're on the good end of it tonight and can enjoy this," said Matt Brickert, who was named MVP for a strong series of offensive performance. JSerra Catholic High School won the final game by a 6-3 count at Taravella High School Baseball Stadium and the series 4-2. Taravella High School manager Steve Sepulbeda was simple and to-the-point in his assessment of the series. "They were the better team and deserve to move on," he said. For the series, Brickert hit .286 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 6 runs. The JSerra Catholic High School Lions will play against the Parkview High School Panthers in the next round. Parkview High School won their series against the Huntington Beach High School Oilers 4 games to 0. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes. |
