Monday, May 11th , 2020
The fans in Southlake Carroll High School are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Etowah High School.
The Southlake Carroll High School Dragons finished off the Etowah High School Eagles 4-2 in the deciding game of the Opening Round played at Etowah Baseball Field.
They took the series 2-1 and will now head to the Sweet 16.
For his standout play, Southlake Carroll High School left fielder Aaron Ramon was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .778, drove in 3 runs and scored 2 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Ramon and that doomed us," said Eagles manager Jeff Kellam. "Hats off to Southlake Carroll High School, though. That was a great series."
The Southlake Carroll High School Dragons will play against the Buchanan High School Bears in the next round. Buchanan High School won their series against the St. Johns Country Day High School Spartans 2 games to 0. The Sweet 16 schedule will be announced after the Opening Round finishes.
