Patriots Prevail, as Opening Round Goes to the Wire
Monday, May 11th , 2020
The Pace High School Patriots are off to the Sweet 16 after an exciting Opening Round triumph.
Pace High School downed the North Hall High School Trojans, but needed the entire series to do so, with a 9-4 win tonight at Delgado Stadium wrapping up the series 2-1.
"It's every guy in this room that made this happen. Without us all pulling in the same direction, we don't win this series," said Jim Elander, who earned MVP honors for a standout offensive series.
Elander put up a .600 with a .692 on-base percentage in the series. He also had 3 home runs, drove in 3 runs and scored 5 runs himself.
The Pace High School Patriots don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Georgetown High School Eagles - Palo Alto High School Vikings series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Sweet 16 schedule will be announced after the Opening Round finishes.
