7-Hit Blitz by JSerra Catholic High School's Nelson Monday, May 16th , 2022 After a 7-hit effort to lead JSerra Catholic High School's 14-13 victory over the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors, third baseman Troy Nelson told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA High School-level is really something special." The 15-year-old player earned his accolades at Stampede Park with a spectacular 7-for-8 game against the Conquerors. "His swing is getting there," said Lions skipper Paul Stange, who spoke glowingly of Nelson after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Troy did that to perfection." Troy Nelson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, singled in the 11th and hit an RBI single in the 13th. Thus far this season, Nelson is hitting .326 with 14 home runs, 36 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 57 hits in 175 at-bats and has played in 38 games. |
