Ploutz on Fire: 5-for-6 for Etowah High School
Tuesday, April 21st , 2026
It was a sensational day at the plate for Tom Ploutz as he led the charge to a nifty 13-0 win over the Lions. The Etowah High School first baseman was pure misery for the JSerra Catholic High School pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Ploutz put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Paul Stange, manager for the Lions, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Tom Ploutz hit a solo-shot off Joe Belo in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th.
Thus far this year, Ploutz has hit .355 with 10 home runs and 22 RBIs.
