Buccaneers Win Opening Round Saturday, May 11th , 2019 In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Berkeley Prep High School Buccaneers have edged the Miami Christian High School Victors. The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Opening Round, with a 3-2 win in the clincher being the difference for Berkeley Prep High School and giving them the ticket to the Sweet 16 with a 2-1 series triumph. "We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Bobby Burm, who was named series MVP. For the series, Burm hit .455 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Berkeley Prep High School Buccaneers will play against the Lubbock Cooper High School Pirates in the next round. Lubbock Cooper High School won their series against the Doral Academy Firebirds 2 games to 0. The Sweet 16 schedule will be announced after the Opening Round finishes. |
