Lancers Advance to Sweet 16 Friday, May 10th , 2019 Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the ABA High School Opening Round. It turned out quite a bit different. The Saint Francis High School Lancers swept aside the Allatoona High School Buccaneers to advance to the Sweet 16, winning the final game by a 6-5 score at Saint Francis High School Stadium. The series MVP was third baseman Steve Fites, who hit .500 with a .636 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 4 runs. "We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it." The Saint Francis High School Lancers will play against the Wesleyan High School Wolves in the next round. Wesleyan High School won their series against the Pope High School Greyhounds 2 games to 0. The Sweet 16 schedule will be announced after the Opening Round finishes. |
