Piper Torches Indians for 5 Hits Sunday, April 6th , 2025 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Joey Piper, it came around today. The 14-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Keller High School Stadium to pace the 16-6 Cardinal Gibbons High School Chiefs victory over the Keller High School Indians. Keller High School skipper Pablo Ramos told reporters in the press room that "Piper deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Piper hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Joey Piper hit a three-run home run off Danny Rossman in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. |
