5-for-6 Game for Tatum Saturday, April 8th , 2023 The Notre Dame High School Knights downed the Sinton High School Pirates, 13-12, at Notre Dame Stadium, in spite of the best efforts of Sinton High School shortstop Chad Tatum. Tatum lashed the ball all over the park in a 5-hit explosion, finishing with a 5-for-6 line -- and a loss. "I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," he said to BNN reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter." Asked if he would adjust his strategy next time the Knights face Tatum, Notre Dame High School manager Bert Vega said "absolutely not." "Our strategy was to not give him good pitches to hit," he said. "We didn't do that, and he worked us over. Thankfully, we won anyway, and next time we'll pitch to him better." Chad Tatum tripled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, walked in the 11th and flied out in the 12th. Thus far in 2023, Tatum is hitting .472 with 4 home runs, 13 RBIs, 20 runs scored and has compiled a .537 OBP. |
