3-HR Game for Bonner
Saturday, March 29th , 2025
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.

It happened at North Cobb Christian Schools Baseball Complex, as David Bonner of the Chiles High School Timberwolves unloaded three times against the North Cobb Christian High School Eagles but was still bumped off, 18-13, by the Eagles.

"We were lucky to win today," said North Cobb Christian High School skipper Franklin Villalobos. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."

For the game, the Chiles High School shortstop had 3 hits in 6 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 5.

Bonner spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.

"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

David Bonner hit a solo-shot off Cory Singer in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Matt Opal in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Matt Opal in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

In 9 games this season, Bonner has batted at a .325 pace with 13 hits and 5 home runs.
