Ridin' High: Schoer Hits for Cycle
Saturday, March 22nd , 2025
It was a special day for Mike Schoer at JSerra High School Stadium -- the JSerra Catholic High School Lions center fielder hit for the cycle, getting every type of hit possible.

The 17-year-old Schoer racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 2 home runs to etch his name in the history books. It was all for naught, however, as the Lions didn't win the ballgame, dropping the decision to the North Cobb Christian High School Eagles, 11-10.

"He hit everything we threw," said North Cobb Christian High School manager Franklin Villalobos. "There was just no getting him out today."

For the game, he was 5-for-8 with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored.

"I'm glad for Mike," JSerra Catholic High School manager Paul Stange said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too."

Speaking to the press after the game, Schoer said the key for his record-setting day was "just getting some good pitches to hit."

Mike Schoer singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Aaron Trede in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Matt Opal in the 7th, flied out in the 8th, doubled in the 11th, struck out in the 13th and flied out in the 14th.
