Cartersville High School's Hewitt Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits Thursday, March 30th , 2023 It was a downpour of hits for Ben Hewitt at River Cats Grounds. The Cartersville High School Hurricanes left fielder tore into St. Johns Country Day High School for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace the Hurricanes to a rain-delayed 10-3 victory. St. Johns Country Day High School manager Alec Johnson bemoaned his pitching, speculating his club got flustered by Hewitt's big day. "He was beating us and we stopped locating well," he said. "That makes you get behind in the count and you can't do that when a guy is hot like Hewitt was today. Not to take anything away from him, but bad location was the story of the ballgame." Ben Hewitt singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 8th. This year, Hewitt is hitting .385 with 3 home runs and 7 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .468 clip and scored 9 runs. |
