Taravella High School Stops Jackson Hit Streak Wednesday, March 29th , 2023 Notre Dame High School right fielder Mike Jackson came into today's game against the Taravella High School Trojans on a hot streak. He left on a cold one. The Trojans did their jobs well, beating the Notre Dame High School Knights, 20-5, and holding Jackson hitless to snap his 26-game hitting streak. The 17-year-old right fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-2, telling reporters only that he "came up short." "What Mike did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Knights manager Bert Vega. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 26 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play." At present, Jackson is batting .444 with 16 hits and 2 home runs. He has knocked in 3 runs and scored 8 times. |
