Nelson Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 22
Tuesday, April 19th , 2022
JSerra Catholic High School third baseman Troy Nelson went 0-for-4 in JSerra Catholic High School's 11-7 triumph over the Houston County High School Bears, snapping his 22-game hitting streak.

Nelson spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later."

"I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though."

When Nelson made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending.

"There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Bears manager Eric Wolters said of Nelson's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."

This season, Nelson is batting .378 with 42 hits, 11 home runs, 29 RBIs, .421 OBP and has scored 33 runs.
