5-Hit Game for Beller Saturday, March 25th , 2023 After a 5-hit effort to lead Buchanan High School's 16-14 victory over the Buford High School Wolves, second baseman Ralph Beller told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA High School-level is really something special." The 15-year-old player earned his accolades at Gerald McQuiag Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Wolves. "His swing is getting there," said Bears skipper Chris Baldwin, who spoke glowingly of Beller after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ralph did that to perfection." Ralph Beller singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Ben Whitman in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th. So far this year, Beller has hit .556 with 1 home run, 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored. |
