Riordan Batters Pope High School Big Time Wednesday, March 22nd , 2023 After a 5-hit effort to lead Orange Lutheran High School's 10-7 victory over the Pope High School Greyhounds, shortstop Paul Riordan told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA High School-level is really something special." The 14-year-old player earned his accolades at Jeff Rowland Baseball Complex with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Greyhounds. "His swing is getting there," said Lancers skipper Steve Fulton, who spoke glowingly of Riordan after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Paul did that to perfection." Paul Riordan singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. |
