Great Stroke: Medenwald Gets 5 Hits Wednesday, March 22nd , 2023 Lubbock Cooper High School Pirates third baseman Justin Medenwald had a day to remember at Mount Paran Christian High School Stadium, ripping apart the Mount Paran Christian High School Eagles and sparking the 11-2 Pirates win. Medenwald wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Medenwald told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Justin Medenwald singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Nelson Perez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jesus Preciado in the 8th. |
