Knights End Gentry Streak Saturday, April 9th , 2022 It was the best of both worlds for the Notre Dame High School Knights at Notre Dame Stadium, as they defeated the Villa Park High School Spartans, 5-2, and also snapped Harry Gentry's 24-game hitting streak. The 15-year-old Villa Park High School left fielder failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Gentry, we just wanted to win the game," said Knights skipper Bert Vega. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Gentry frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won." Gentry is currently batting .370 with 13 home runs and 26 RBIs. |
