Gelardi Blasts 3 into Bleachers Wednesday, March 24th , 2021 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Doral Academy Firebirds. Boerne High School second baseman Mike Gelardi tripled up on the home runs to propel the Greyhounds to a win, 17-4, at Doral Academy Baseball Complex. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Doral Academy manager Ryan Stratton said. "Gelardi hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Gelardi collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Mike Gelardi hit a solo-shot off Phil Lunsford in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Chad Muir in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, walked in a run in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Danny Valdez in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. |
