Belcher Smacks 5 Hits for Oilers
Sunday, March 27th , 2022
Huntington Beach High School Oilers shortstop Jesus Belcher had a day to remember at Dreamfield, ripping apart the Keller High School Indians and sparking the 16-1 Oilers win.
Belcher wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Belcher told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jesus Belcher singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, was hit by a pitch in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This season, Belcher has posted a batting average of .424 with 14 hits in 33 at-bats, no home runs and 4 RBIs. He has also scored 6 runs, walked 1 times and compiled a .457 OBP.
